Today, I had the extraordinary honour of being sworn in as the High Sheriff of the Royal County of Berkshire.
Standing in a role that carries over a thousand years of history is both humbling and deeply meaningful. As I took the oath, I couldn’t help but think of the young girl I once was: someone who didn’t always feel she fitted in, yet who experienced the protection of the police service, the kindness of charities, and the generosity of volunteers. Those moments shaped me, and they are a big part of why I continue to serve others today.
Throughout my journey, I’ve been privileged to support refugees rebuilding their lives, help reduce reoffending through enterprise, empower young people through entrepreneurship, and champion our Armed Forces community. Together, these experiences have shaped a guiding belief for the year ahead:
– Recognising those who give so much.
– Encouraging those who need support or direction.
– Connecting people and organisations that strengthen our communities.
I am incredibly grateful to my family, friends, colleagues, and mentors who have supported and encouraged me along the way. Your belief has meant more than words can express.
As I begin this year of service, my purpose is clear: to shine a light on those who serve quietly, champion the many people and organisations making a difference every day, and help ensure that no one in our communities is left behind.
Thank you, Berkshire, for trusting me as your High Sheriff. I look forward to serving with gratitude, integrity, and heart.
